Type X

PABCO® Gypsum Sheathing Board is a treated core moisture-resistant product and is designed for use as an exterior substrate product that provides a stable base for most types of finish cladding. PABCO® Gypsum Sheathing Board has a water-resistant core and water-repellent paper (brown face paper and gray back) both treated chemically to provide a water-repellent surface.

PABCO® Gypsum Sheathing Board is manufactured in 4 ft. wide and 8 ft. long panels. The sheathing panels are manufactured with square edges. These square edges are not designed for finishing with joint compound and tape. PABCO® Gypsum Sheathing Board is manufactured in 1/2" treated regular core and 5/8" treated type X core.

PABCO® Gypsum Sheathing Board panels are flexible, may be attached with nails, screws or staples. The gypsum core provides natural resistance to the spread of fire.

5/8" PABCO® Gypsum Sheathing Board treated type X core Gypsum Sheathing board is recommended for use in residential or commercial buildings and may be required where fire rated systems are specified. 5/8" PABCO® Gypsum Sheathing Board is commonly used when a one-hour fire-resistive exterior wall assembly is required.

5/8" PABCO® Gypsum Sheathing Board treated type X core products are produced with a variety of additional additives providing improved fire resistive qualities. 5/8" PABCO® Gypsum Sheathing Board treated type X meets the requirements specified by ASTM in the Standard Specification for Gypsum Board (C 1396 type X). The type X definition in ASTM C 1396 describes a wood-framed wall assembly that when tested in a certified fire testing laboratory to ASTM E 119 Standard Test Methods for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials achieves a 45 minute rating for 1/2' thick products and an one-hour rating for 5/8" thick products.

5/8" PABCO® Gypsum Sheathing Board treated type X core meets the requirements specified by ASTM in the Standard Specification for Gypsum Board (C 1396) for water-resistance and surface water absorption.
