FLAME CURB®
Super C Type XXX
Fire-Rated Wallboard
PABCO® FLAME CURB® Gypsum Wallboard is a family of fire-resistant gypsum panel products designed for use on interior walls, ceilings and partitions. The paper facing affords an excellent surface suitable for a variety of decorations including paint and wallpaper.
PABCO® FLAME CURB® Gypsum Wallboard panels are flexible, may be attached with nails, screws or approved adhesives. PABCO® FLAME CURB® wallboard panels are produced in thicknesses of 1/2" and 5/8"; widths of 48" and 54" (for 5/8" type X) and lengths that vary from 8' to 14'. Tapered edges provide a recessed area that allows tape and joint treatment to be used to create a monolithic (flat) surface.
PABCO® FLAME CURB® Gypsum Wallboard products are produced with a variety of additional additives providing improved fire resistive qualities. All PABCO® FLAME CURB® products meet the requirements specified by ASTM in the Standard Specification for Gypsum Board (C 1396 type X). The type X definition in ASTM C 1396 describes a wood-framed wall assembly that when tested in a certified fire testing laboratory to ASTM E 119 Standard Test Methods for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials achieves a 45 minute rating for 1/2' thick products and an one-hour rating for 5/8" thick products.
1/2" PABCO® FLAME CURB® type XXX and 1/2" PABCO® FLAME CURB® Super C meet and exceed these requirements in fire resistive performance. Systems are specifically tested at approved laboratories such as Underwriters Laboratories and Intertek Testing Service using these various core formulas and only those core formulas that successfully pass these stringent fire tests qualify for use on the systems listed by those laboratories.
1/2" PABCO® FLAME CURB® type XXX and 1/2" PABCO® FLAME CURB® Super C are improved type X core products. These products qualify for use in 1/2" type X systems and many proprietary designs. Their light weight and improved fire-resistive core make them excellent choices for commercial work or use on ceiling applications of all types. One to four hour wall systems are approved using one or more layers of these products.
5/8" PABCO® FLAME CURB® type X meets or exceeds these requirements in fire resistive performance. Systems are specifically tested at approved laboratories such as Underwriters Laboratories and Intertek Testing Service using these various core formulas and only those core formulas that successfully pass these stringent fire tests qualify for use on the systems listed by those laboratories.
5/8" PABCO® FLAME CURB® type X is the standard for one-hour fire-resistive wood- or metal-framed walls. Two layers of 5/8" PABCO® FLAME CURB® type X direct attached to ceiling framing is defined by the building codes as providing one-hour protection.
5/8" PABCO® FLAME CURB® type Super 'C' the latest addition to our family of "fire-rated gypsum wallboard products" exceeds all of these previously mentioned core formulas in fire resistive performance. Systems are specifically tested at approved laboratories such as Underwriters Laboratories and Intertek Testing Service using these various core formulas and only those core formulas that successfully pass these stringent fire tests qualify for use on the systems listed by those laboratories.
5/8" PABCO® FLAME CURB® Super C is the premium type X core. The latest generation of improved gypsum core capable of resisting fire in wall and ceiling systems rated to 2 hours when multiple layers are used and especially designed for use with wood trusses and shaftwall systems.
